just bought a laptop, need help wth printing

I just bought a toshiba laptop and wireless router for a home network. I still have the main computer with a laser printer hooked up to it. Can I print from my laptop over the network or does it physically have to be connected to the printer via printer cable? I tried to install my printer software on the laptop but I could not get it to configure properly. Help appreicated, thanks

you can buy a network router with a usb connection so as to share the usb printer across the network the easy way

myself when i try to enable networking amongst the desktop/laptop/tivo/2 printers never seems to work right - ie 2 will work but chop everything else off

network magic is a software program that lets you share printers across network but you have to pay for it

the answer is yes theres many ways to do it depending how much you know about computers and/or money you want to throw at it

as for the printer software you probably need to hook the printer directly to the laptop to correctly install the software- so it can recognise it

then step back and look at your network to get it set up optimally

try this

Right click my computer icon on screen on both computers and goto properties and computer name and make sure they are both on the same workgroup name. If not then click change and type whatever name you wish to BOTH computers (requires restart) then go to here computer and start / settings/ printers and faxes and the right click then sharing and share this printer on the network. Then on yours go to start / settings / printer faxes and then add a printer and follow the steps to set up a network printer and it should work..
